Salute to the Fallen –
Taps as played at Rev. Woodard’s funeral

Family, I pray this writing finds you well. This past two weeks has been a challenging time for the Progressive Baptist. Last week Friday we held the home-going service for Deacon Donald Foster and on Tuesday we had a home-going service for Rev. Martin Woodard. Let us keep our family, their families and all families who are grieving in prayer in this season.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed. Psalm 34:1

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Rev 21:4

I was blessed to have the following two articles show up on social media-one about post-George Floyd and the other is biographical:

Midweek Messages

This is a reminder to join us on Wednesdays at 12 noon for a midweek message from one of the ministers.

A Little New Music

Being in the pandemic and running the prayer line has caused me to dig a little deeper and look for diversity of music to share during our time of worship, fellowship and prayer each day on the prayer line. Below are a few links to some songs that are new to me and that have blessed me along the way:

Black Church Week for Healing of HIV/AIDS | WINGS

If we were not in pandemic, we would be at Progressive tonight enjoying the wings concert for the healing of HIV and AIDS. We still, nonetheless must continue in prayer. I am asking that we all commit to lifting a prayer at least once a day for God to continue to intervene to heal HIV and AIDS and to accelerate our recovery from the coronavirus.

In abounding love,

Pastor

  1. Walter,
Thank you for sharing the activities from your Church, thank you for engaging in the Racial conversation along other activities. The throwback picture was cool. You dad was one-off heroes during his balling years, I will certainly keep him and the family in Prayer.
Let’s me know the dates when you hold those meetings on Racial Issues or other community discussion.
May God continue to Bless you with his anointing during this time.
Thank you for all that you do for the benefit of our people.
    Dorothy
